After a solid eleven and a half minutes labouring over a spreadsheet, office worker Ben McInerny today treated himself to a quick browse of Facebook, three news websites, a collection of Buzzfeed lists, and his favourite online clothing store, before getting back down to it.
McInerny then buckled down to write a report, only stopping once he’d finished the first paragraph, to reward himself with a quick break to research and book his upcoming holiday.
“You can’t grind yourself into the ground,” McInerny told journalists. “Once you’ve knocked off a tricky email or finished another paragraph on your report, it’s important to look up, stretch the legs and catch up on 100 YouTube videos before buckling down again”.
