Iraq Conflict: US Looking Forward To Finishing Job They Finished 11 Years Ago

Announcing plans to send combat troops to Iraq, US President Barack Obama said today he was confident US forces would quickly wrap up the war they won in 2003.

The President said a brief in-and-out campaign was the best way to ensure Iraq didn’t descend into a violent hotbed of extremism and anarchy. “This will be short, sharp and decisive. Just like in ‘03 when we finished this thing once and for all”.

He said intervention was the best way to maintain the stability that has existed in Iraq since military activity wound up eleven years ago.

Former President George W Bush meanwhile questioned the need to put to an end to a conflict that ended so successfully over a decade ago.
